Hello there!

I’m a newborn and family photographer based in Paris. My work is above all based on my desire to celebrate women in their role as mothers, by helping them to be present in their family portraits, moving from 'invisible' to seen, and to promote self-esteem by creating intimate and authentic family portraits.

When most think of family photographs, the more traditional posed all smiles looking at the camera portraits come to mind. These are not what you’ll get here. When working with you, my aim is to help you document how this chapter of your family story FEELS like, and what you want to remember the most; love and connections.

Throughout my work, I also want to help you slow down for a couple of hours, capture your family connections and leave a legacy for future generations.

Who am I?

I’m Helene; a newborn and family photographer serving Paris and its surrounding.

Originally from Paris, I lived the expat life for 18 years. I lived in Australia, the UK and the US before deciding to move back to my hometown a year ago. It is while living in London that I started photographing families.

I’m also mum to a wonderful 5 years old boy, Nathan; and to Roxie, my very high-maintenance 7yo boxer girl!

Being an expat for the 18 years meant missing out on a lot of family events and not seeing my mother, sisters and other family members as much as I would have liked to. Throughout the years, photographs became a big part of how I celebrate my family and our love for one another. Unfortunately, I don’t own many photographs from my childhood and none of me as a baby with both my parents. My father used to be the one behind the camera in my family, meaning he’s not often in them; and sadly, somehow, most got lost throughout the years and different events of life like moving home. A couple of years ago, my mother found a photograph in which she holds me in a blanket as a newborn. We can’t really see me all wrapped up, but the expression on my mum’s face as she introduces me is telling me everything I need to know.

It’s in the recent years that I’ve realized just how important those memories are, and how much I’d love to be able to look back at a time where I was playing with my sisters in our bedroom or with my first dog Sultan…

Being an expat also taught me the value of being in the frame, and to capture life today for my child. Since I started videography, I make sure to record a mini keepsake film during each visits with my mum while I lived in the US, and I know that these films will be absolutely priceless to both me and him one day.

Why at home sessions?

I create photographs in your home because your home is where your family’s story grows⁣, it is where memories are made and laughters are shared. Home is the place you created to welcome and raise your children. Home is where your love as a family has developed, been challenged, and strengthened throughout the years. Home is where meals are prepared and shared, sick babies are cared for and where you snuggle on beds and couches...

ONLINE PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOP FOR PARENTS

I’m also an educator. In 2021, I’ve launched my first online photography workshop for parents. This is a course I have created with parents in mind (and not photographers) which means that besides your camera and the will to learn you do not need to have any previous knowledge about photography.

I created this course in line with my deep belief that family life should be documented. For us, parents, but mainly for our children. I believe we owe to leave them a legacy. Leave our family’s memories and story to the next generations.

I also know that taking photographs can be daunting and even challenging for most parents. Life is busy and chores gets in the way. With 2020 being what it was, I felt the desire to help families like yours to document their everyday life outside of professional sessions. I had to say ‘no’ to a lot of future moms and parents wanting to capture a special season of their life due to the pandemic. Your family matters, and documenting its story matters. So if you’d like to learn more about my workshop and how to become your family storyteller, then click the link below. In any case, take the picture.
