Where are you based?
I’m based in Paris, France.
What kind of photographer are you?
I am a lifestyle portrait photographer specializing in newborn and family photography. I do not pose my newborns and do not use any props. I use natural light exclusively and all my newborn sessions occur in my families' home. I believe in documenting life and giving the gift of memories to the next generation. This is why I love capturing the emotions and bonds that connect families.
what does the session fee covers?
The session fee covers my time (both before and during the session), creative and editing; and include 40+ digital files that you will be able to download, along with a personal use print release from your private online gallery.
This fee includes a non-refundable deposit. Please feel free to contact me for more details.
How can I order prints and products from you?
You will have the opportunity to order beautiful professional prints, framed prints, albums and more via your online gallery.
why do you mainly photograph in black & white?
I mainly photograph in black and white because I value art and believe black and white photographs are timeless. There is no distraction within a black and white photograph, there is something 'raw' about it; which allows emotions and connections to be the main focus. I actually wrote a blog post on this topic, you can read more here.
That being said, you will also receive most photographs within your gallery in color .
Where will my session takes place?
I’m an in-home photographer and videographer, meaning most of my session occur in the comfort of my clients’ home. I will be coming to you.
When weather permits, maternity and family sessions can take place at an agreed outdoor location starting 90 minutes before sunset (May to October only).
How long does a session last?
It depends on the session you have selected, but in general terms maternity sessions are the fastest (around an hour), family session usually last 60 to 90 minutes; whilst the newborn and baby sessions last 90 minutes to allow for feeding time and other little things that come with the territory! My family film sessions last from 60 minutes up to 2 hours depending on the type of film we are creating.
Please refer to The Portraits page for more information on my photography sessions and here for my family films sessions.
WHAT IS A FAMILY FILM?
Family films are like adding movement and sound to a series of photographs! It’s a beautiful way to tell your family story. They are modern home movies. I offer two types of family films, for which the length of the film but also the subject of the film will differ.
For an Everyday Life Family Film we’ll document your family as a whole and this will allow for a couple of activities (eg. breakfast, play time, bath etc.).
A Keepsake film is a shorter film that concentrates on one activity or one person. It could be a moving portrait of your child, or one special activity you want to capture or again it could be a love letter to a loved one (where we’d record your voice to go over the film). You can find out more here.
What will my at home photography session be like?
The session will occur in the morning. Upon my arrival we will take a moment to chat and get to know each other a bit better; also allowing me to meet the kids. If your family is composed of two parents and I haven't had any previous contact with your partner prior to the session day, I will focus on them and get them involved in the experience. If you have small children, this is when I will start building their trust (while my camera is still in my bag).
Then we will move to the room with the best lighting and I'll take my camera out.
I will ask you to interact with each other and if you are nervous or overwhelmed I will direct you a bit to help you relax. If there is more than one room with good lighting we might move to take a few photographs there too.
You can ask any questions you may still have during the session, however we usually went through most of them at this point.
I do not let my watch lead the session and I don't push my families, so as soon as I feel that we have reached the 'photo-shoot energy' limit I will stop shooting. Don't worry by then I usually have captured plenty of photographs already.
Once done we'll have a quick chat to discuss the next step before I leave, and you can go on with the rest of your day.
When to book a maternity session?
The two elements to take into account for the date of your maternity session are: that your bump is sufficiently visible (this depends on each woman and each pregnancy), and that you are still comfortable enough to move and enjoy the experience. So not too early and not too late. I therefore recommend carrying out your session from 28 weeks and “ideally” around 32 weeks. That being said, it is still possible to have a session even afterwards!
It is therefore important to make contact around your 5th month to be able to book your session.
When to book a newborn session?
To make the best out of the session I would recommend booking the session at the two weeks mark. The reasons behind it are that is gives the new parent(s) time to settle in their new normal, and up until then, newborns sleep more so the session will go smoother. However, beautiful and timeless portraits of your baby can be made at any time and I’m always happy to stop for feeds, nappy change etc.; so feel free to contact me at any stage of your baby's life.
If possible, I recommend to contact me during the pregnancy / once you have details about your future baby’s adoption date.
What to wear on the day of the session?
An outfit in which you are comfortable. Besides that, I recommend avoiding clothing with large logos or designs as it can be a distraction; and keeping the clothing for the whole family in the same spirit (i.e. smart, casual, smart-casual etc.) and similar color tones.
More tips will be included in my Session Planning Guide which you will receive with your booking confirmation. In the meantime, you can read more on this topic on on my blog.
What happens if my child is ill?
If your child is ill, or any member of the family for that matter, then I ask you to let me know as soon as possible and we can postpone your session.
